Atty. Jude Marfil, J.D.

Founding Lawyer

Atty. Jude Marfil is a lawyer based in the Philippines. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of the Philippines - College of Law in Diliman, Quezon City in 2016 and passed the Philippine Bar examinations conducted on the same year. He received his AB Communication, Minor in Management Degree from the Ateneo de Manila University in 2011.

In college, Atty. Marfil was a Dean's Lister and was awarded the Best Research Thesis by the Communication Department of the Ateneo de Manila University. He further pursued a Minor Degree in Management upon completing his academic units ahead of time in three years.

 

While in law school, Atty. Marfil worked as a full-time legislative staff for the Senate of the Philippines, and eventually, as a full-time Commissioning Executive and Account Manager for LexisNexis, a leading global provider of legal and regulatory data. Despite his demanding work schedule, which included training top law firms and schools across the country, he still managed to receive accolades for his academic achievements having received the Best Paper in Private International Law and Distinguished Legal Intern awards during his graduation. He was also a recipient of the ACCRALAW-Violeta Calvo Drilon Scholarship. Additionally, he wrote manuscripts for books in Family Law and Succession for a prominent law professor and leading practitioner.

Following his admission to the bar, Atty. Marfil was presented with opportunities to work for the Philippines' top law firms, the government, and private sector. However, he has instead established his own law firm and has become an active day-to-day litigator. He has since handled a wide range of cases in criminal law, civil law, mercantile law, political law, and immigration law, among others. He has represented clients from different sectors, including top corporations in the Philippines, high-ranking government officials, and celebrities. He has won and settled thousands of cases in various courts and government tribunals/agencies in the country and has handled transactions of considerable magnitude.

 

In the international setting, Atty. Marfil has represented foreign clients beset with multi-jurisdictional legal issues, has collaborated with foreign law firms such as Baker McKenzie (London), as well as lawyers from the United States, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Singapore, and has been published as a reviewing lawyer in Brachytherapy, a journal published by Elsevier for the American Brachytherapy Society. 

 

In the 2020/21 Bar Examinations--the first digitized Bar Examinations--Atty. Marfil has served as a Head Proctor. He is also a Bar Review Mentor for the UP Law Bar Review Institute.

 

Atty. Marfil is also known for his charitable works. During the lockdown in Manila City from March to May 2020, he founded the Happy Lunch Project, where he fed homeless people for 47 days. He is also a Trustee of the Muscular Dystrophy Association of the Philippines where he advocates for patients afflicted with muscular dystrophy, including their families and/or caregivers, in honor of his late father, Armando E. Marfil, who had the same degenerative condition.

​All told, Atty. Jude Marfil has established himself as a skilled and accomplished lawyer in the Philippines, known for his dedication to clients, impeccable oral and written legal communication skills, and charitable works.
